The Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta (GSGATL) has announced the appointment of Jai Ferrell as its new Chief Executive Officer, effective July 1, 2024. With a strong background in business leadership and deep ties to the Atlanta community, Ferrell brings a wealth of experience and a passion for mission-driven leadership to her new role.

Selected after a comprehensive nationwide search, Ferrell’s appointment reflects her alignment with the Girl Scouts’ mission of empowering girls with courage, confidence, and character. Her extensive experience in marketing revenue management and navigating complex, multi-stakeholder environments were key factors in the Board of Directors’ decision.

Susan L. Lazaro, head of the search committee and incoming board chair, emphasized Ferrell’s deep connections to the metro-Atlanta community and beyond, underscoring her potential to enhance the organization’s impact on girls’ lives across the council’s service area. Sonnet C. Edmonds, current Chair, echoed this sentiment, expressing confidence in Ferrell’s leadership and vision for the council.

As an Atlanta native and former Girl Scout, Ferrell brings a unique perspective and understanding of the local landscape. Her professional background includes significant roles in various industries, including entertainment, consumer products, and sports, contributing to renowned companies such as WarnerMedia, CNN, Major League Baseball and BET Networks.

Ferrell’s appointment is historic as she becomes the first person of color to lead the Girl Scouts of Greater Atlanta Council. Reflecting on her new role, Ferrell expressed deep gratitude and a commitment to the organization’s values of integrity, impact and authenticity.

The council’s interim CEO, Kathleen Marran, welcomed Ferrell’s appointment, praising her vision and dedication to advancing the Girl Scouts’ mission. With a bachelor’s degree from Spelman College, a master’s degree from Georgia State University, and a Certificate of Management Excellence from Harvard Business School Executive Education, Ferrell is well-equipped to lead the council into the future.
