Donald Trump has appointed Susie Wiles as his White House chief of staff. She is the first female to ever hold the job position of White House chief of staff and was instrumental in most of Trump’s campaigns. She will be overseeing the policies, along with being part of the everyday concerns of the White House staff.
In a statement announcing the appointment, Trump said Wiles had made “instrumental contributions to my political success-especially her work as campaign chair in my 2016 and 2020 presidential campaigns, as well as critical work in efforts to re-elect him in 2024. “Susie Wiles played a huge role in getting me what was actually one of the greatest victories in American political history,” Trump said. “She was an indispensable member of both my 2016 and 2020 campaigns,” Wiles’ campaign activities span decades as she served as Trump’s Florida campaign director in both 2016 and 2020. As part of the 2020 campaign, she was heralded for her critical role in securing Florida’s electoral votes for Trump through targeted outreach to a broad coalition of voters- conservative Jewish communities, Hispanic voters, Black voters in targeted counties, and parents of charter school children. Wiles highlighted data-driven strategies, referring to data as king in the campaign’s efforts to tailor messaging to diverse demographic groups.
In addition to experience on the Trump campaign, she was a senior advisor to Governor of Florida Ron DeSantis and the former campaign manager of Governor Rick Scott. Other roles for Wiles have included the Reagan administration, as well as work on the 1988 Bush-Quayle vice presidential campaign.
Currently, Wiles serves as a co-chair for Mercury Public Affairs, one of the largest global public affairs companies, and as a principal for Right Coast Strategies, a business consulting firm in Florida. She brings deep experience in political strategy and public affairs that makes her a tried leader to fill this role of chief of staff.
With the appointment, she will be the first woman to occupy the chief of staff position at the White House, a position that will position her at front and center when it comes to policy and administrative decisions within the new administration.
