Ugandan Women Business Leaders Expand into UK and Asian Markets

The Breaking Barriers to Trade Entrepreneurs conference, which began in Uganda three years ago, has assisted Ugandan women entrepreneurs in exporting their goods to markets in Asia and the United Kingdom.

The Global Influence Club hosts a conference for entrepreneurs aimed at breaking down barriers to trade. High-ranking government representatives, thought leaders, businesspeople and female entrepreneurs come together at the conference to talk about trade obstacles and how to overcome them. Baroness Sandy Verma, a founder of the Global Influence Club and a member of the British House of Lords, will open the event. High-ranking government representatives, academics, CEOs, and businesses will share their knowledge during the event.

Building a sustainable future in the age of climate change’s impact on infrastructure and striking a work-life balance while serving as corporate leaders who prioritize diversity, equity and male colleagues in the workplace will be the main topics of discussion during the plenary sessions.

Members of the British House of Lords, Baroness Sandy Verma, stated in an interview conducted that the conference has a positive impact on women’s confidence in the business world. This year’s conference is being held at the Sheraton Kampala Hotel.

“When we were talking to entrepreneurs in all the countries we visited, we found that a lot of challenges that they were facing were similar. Access to finances was a challenge and scaling up their production methods to export was a challenge. We found a huge need to create a network that brings together business leaders and government policymakers and have them in one room to see what the government is doing,” Ms. Verma said.

According to Ms. Verma, the network meetings have aided women in developing their businesses, connecting with global entrepreneurs, joining supply chains and developing their personal brands. They have also studied other financing approaches and internet trade.

Her dedication to promoting transitional and lasting change in various socio-economic initiatives in Uganda and other regions of the global economy is demonstrated by the current year’s conference.
