Mary-Louise Vanderlee Appointed New Dean of Education in Brock University

With effect from July 1, Brock University’s Faculty of Education has named Mary-Louise Vanderlee (BA ’94, MEd ’96, BEd ’97) as its new dean. Vanderlee was the Associate Dean of Professional and Undergraduate Studies before taking on the role of Interim Dean. She has also held the positions of Chair of Graduate and Undergraduate Studies at the Faculty of Education and first Chair of the Department of Educational Studies. She has also given the university a great deal of leadership in the community and service, having been elected to the Senate and the Board of Trustees from 2012 to 2015.

Vanderlee possesses a strong research background that centers on the diverse facets of early childhood education and the markers of health and well-being for kids and their families, in addition to her vast administrative expertise. She has won numerous awards for her efforts, including the Brock Graduate Students’ Association’s Graduate Student Ambassador Award in 2022 for her unwavering encouragement of and contributions to graduate study. In addition, she was selected to give the keynote address at the 2021 International Congress of Health Sciences. From 2012 to 2015, she was appointed an Extraordinary Professor at North-West University in South Africa, in honor of her work assisting with curriculum development.

Vanderlee has three degrees from Brock University: a Bachelor of Arts (Psychology), a Master of Education (Teaching and Learning), and a Doctor of Education in Human Development Applied Psychology from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education at the University of Toronto.
