A programme dubbed Our Rural Future is expected to provide thousands of euros in financing to women’s clubs and associations throughout the province of Offaly.

“These are small grants ranging from €1,000 to €2,190 covering activities from camogie to crafts and Women’s Sheds, and the entire county from Edenderry to Shinrone and Ballycumber,” said Minister Pippa Hackett in response to the funding for 14 women’s groups in County Offaly.

These modest awards are a part of the substantial ongoing support provided by our government to the many volunteers who work tirelessly every day of the week in our communities, both urban and rural. They won’t build stadiums or studios, but they will make a big difference.

Minister Hackett went on, “These funds are going to organisations that promote friendship, creativity, and everything from physical fitness among women and girls—important work for all of society.”

The announcement was made on Wednesday by Heather Humphreys TD, Minister for Rural and Community Development, who stated that the money would assist around 500 women’s organisations across the country. Small funds are being given under the programme to organisations in each county to help them buy equipment and upgrade their facilities. Women’s and Hen’s Sheds, Camogie and GAA Clubs, ICA Groups, Toddler Groups, Girl Guides, and other organisations are among the organisations that are getting support.

Offaly Camogie Grounds Company Ltd, Tullamore Camogie Club – Caman N Chats, Tullamore Women’s Shed, Clara Women’s Group, Edenderry Women’s Shed, Kilcormac Craft Group, Kilcormac Killoughey Camogie Club, Kilcormac Killoughey LGFA, Lusmagh Camogie Club, and Tullamore Women’s Shed will all receive €2,190.71.
